What to expect
Romania holds large wintering populations of greylag (Anser anser) and white-fronted geese (Anser albifrons) on the lower Danube floodplain. Birds roost on the lake systems at night and flight at dawn to harvested cornfields and stubble — a 15-minute window when the right setup puts a full team into birds.
The hunt is a mix of field decoying (full-body decoy spreads + layout blinds, the classic North American template adapted to Romanian conditions) and pass shooting along the lanes between roost and feed. We scout the active fields the day before; the wind and the harvest determine the next morning's setup.
Pairs cleanly with our duck shoot — same region, same lodge, opposite shooting style. A 3-day mixed programme (one day geese, one day duck, one day choice) is a popular combination.
Good to know
Oradea, Cluj, or Timișoara — whichever is closest to your hunting zone. Airport transfer arranged on request (not included in the package).
Hotel, guesthouse, or hunting cabin — depending on your hunting zone.
Common choice: 12-ga, 36g BB or #1 non-toxic (steel) shot for the longer pass-shooting ranges. EU REACH restricts lead in / near wetlands — we confirm operating-zone rules at booking.
Rifles, shotguns, and ammunition can be rented on site — bring a valid hunting permit from your home country and we'll sort the rest at booking.
Warm immobile-blind layers, gloves, face cover. Layout-blind familiarity helps but we brief on the ground.
Hunters wanting field-decoy goose shooting at densities Western Europe can't match. Pair with duck for a mixed week.

- Firearms only — crossbows, bows, traps and snares are not lawful hunting means in Romania.
- Thermal and night-vision sights are not permitted for this species.
- Daily bag limit: 10 birds per hunter.
Reference dates only. The Romanian Ministry of Environment's annual hunting order is authoritative; quotas for derogation species (bear, wolf, lynx) shift independently. We confirm the operative rules at booking.
