What to expect

Status update — currently not bookable. The EU relaxed the wolf's protection status in 2025, but Romania has kept the wolf strictly protected under its own law and has issued no derogation quota for the current season, so wolf hunting is suspended. Register your interest below and we will notify you the moment the legal framework changes — no deposit is taken until a permit is held.

How the hunt runs when derogations are open: the work is opportunistic. Wolves follow game and livestock in unpredictable patterns. We combine elevated stands over baited clearings, calling sessions from blinds, and — when the pack moves into a known corridor — a driven format with a beater line. A typical 3-day allocation produces one or two shot opportunities. Winter (snow-cover months) is the window. Pricing is quoted on request because the trophy fee and permit class depend on the specific derogation issued.

Airports

Oradea, Cluj, or Timișoara — whichever is closest to your hunting zone. Airport transfer arranged on request (not included in the package).

Lodge

Hotel, guesthouse, or hunting cabin — depending on your hunting zone.

Rifle

Common Romanian choices: .270 Win, .30-06 with quality scope. Thermal and night-vision sights are not permitted on wolf.

Rental

Rifles, shotguns, and ammunition can be rented on site — bring a valid hunting permit from your home country and we'll sort the rest at booking.

Clothing

Deep-winter immobile-sit kit, white camo helpful in snow, patience essential — wolves move on their schedule.

Status

No open season. Romanian law lists this species as one whose hunting is prohibited; it can only be taken if the Ministry issues a derogation for a specific case, which sets its own dates. We publish those dates only once a derogation exists.

Rules that bind this hunt

Firearms only — crossbows, bows, traps and snares are not lawful hunting means in Romania.
Thermal and night-vision sights are not permitted for this species.
Strictly protected. Huntable only when the Ministry issues a case-by-case derogation — never on a standing season.

Reference dates only. The Romanian Ministry of Environment's annual hunting order is authoritative; quotas for derogation species (bear, wolf, lynx) shift independently. We confirm the operative rules at booking.
